So I was talking to *
conartist18 tonight and realized that, like I used to be, many people are unaware of why exactly vocaloids are so popular. I didn't understand either, back in the day. Some singing..thing with some high pitched videos? whatttt don't care. Overrated.
So I wanted to explain it, for those who are interested and unaware.
the most basic description for vocaloids is that they are a series of singing synthesizer programs. Each program comes with a different voice, based on certain stereotypes, and each one has a piece of character art on the cover. And that is all they are, officially.
BUT!
What excited con as I started spamming him with links, was the most important thing he hadn't been aware of. The fact that there are a JILLION vocaloid music videos on the interwebs, all made by crazy japanese people working together. Most of the songs tell some kind of story, and some songs come in a series that tells an even greater story. Sometimes people make the music and video all by themselves, other times groups of people team up to do it. In any case, this kind of shit is very cool and romantic to someone like me. The community was given this husk of an idea, and made magics with it.
If you are interested, here are some relevant links. Yes this is all for the sake of converting more people.
Also, don't tell me which ones would be better to include >: | ITS A FREE COUNTRY YOU MAKE YOUR OWN JOURNAL.

All the Other ones:Kaito and Gackpoid both sound like old men singing in the shower, and Meiko+the others are just way too tinny.
That's all! Back to work for me!
I'm not necessarily saying you'll love vocaloids, or that they are the ultimate shit. But I like 'em. And I think alota people don't really understand what they're about without having it explained by someone like me :<
Also, this is where I get all my albums of 'em
[link]There's a shitton there, but I recommend Supercell, Re:Mikus, Melody, Hope, and 9 -MaruQ-
Also note that this thread only includes albums that include Miku. So despite having over 1000 songs, it's super incomplete '3'
